I had my alarm set for 6:30, plenty of time to get ready and take an Uber to the course at 7:30. My stupid lizard brain woke me up 4am!!! I tried in vain to get back to sleep for another hour before I said, “Fuck it” and got up and washed my stinking ass .
Despite the fact that I literally live 2 blocks away from a golf course, I haven’t played at all this year. Alas today I’m playing in a golf tournament that it is much more about “fellowship” than golf. When I say “fellowship” I mean drinking and acting like jackasses by setting off fireworks on the golf course and such. This is not your father’s golf tournament.
One of my rugby buddies invited me to play in this tournament two years ago. We got stupid drunk, I won $350 in the 50/50 raffle , then came home, and made milkshakes for my family. It was a legendary day and a tradition was born, the last Friday in September is booked now and forever.
First year, we were paired up with a couple of randos that ended up being pretty cool. Last year I bought a foursome, this year we have two foursomes playing together. In a few years we’ll completely take over this tournament.

This year’s event was relatively sedate and there were no fireworks . With bars closed, we also didn’t have a contingent showing up half in the bag at 0830.
